Washington Carnegie Public Library’s Summer Youth Reading Program has received a $550 grant from Our Community Foundation. This year’s program, which is titled “All Together Now,” is open to children between the ages of 2 and teenagers. The program aims to promote early childhood literacy, social and community engagement, and a lifelong love for learning. Executive Director Teresa Heidenreich expects a minimum of 500 participants this year, which is an increase from the previous year’s participation of approximately 400 youths. Library Youth Services Manager Donita Mattingly says each participant will enjoy in-person programming, complete many hours of reading, and receive a free book as a completion prize.
