Merlin H. Tredway, 76, passed away April 1, 2023. He was born January 16, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Merlin “Al” and Louise (Evans) Tredway. Merlin was married to Betty (Leighty) Tredway and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2001.
A graduate of Petersburg High School, Merlin went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a Vietnam veteran. Merlin was a truck driver for the Poshard Trucking Company. In his retirement years, he enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing on his boat. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Merlin was a member of the Washington VFW and the Eagles.
Those who now mourn Merlin’s passing include his children: Kathy Hill of Jasper, Angie (Victor) Simota of Washington, and John Tredway of Petersburg; his grandchildren: Amber (Steven) Smith, Tiffany Houchin, Seth Hill, Max Hill, Johnathan Garcia, Heather Garcia, Holly Garcia, Anthony (Gaige) Enoch, Brandon Burchell, Mikel Biggs, Connor Biggs, Cordell Tredway, Tamacia (Dakota) Woodall, and Taylor McCandless. Additionally, he leaves twenty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Lucy Tredway, in Wisconsin.
During his lifetime, Merlin grieved the loss of his parents, Al and Louise Tredway; his wife, Betty Tredway; his daughter, Kristy Tredway; brother, Dennis Tredway; and sister, Jackie Bostick.
