Public Health Bill Goes To Governor

A public health bill is heading to Governor Holcomb’s desk for consideration.

The legislation would set which public health services county health departments need to provide to qualify for more state funding.

These services include working to prevent obesity and diabetes, efforts for tobacco control, and sanitary inspections of public buildings and tattoo parlors.

Lawmakers finalized the funding this week after passing Senate Bill 4.

It will get 75-million dollars in 2024 and 150-million in 2025, if it’s signed into law.
