Linda Sue Stone of Washington , beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on December 12, 2023, in Newburgh, Indiana. Born on May 18, 1961 in Vincennes, Indiana Linda’s warmth and kindness shown brightly throughout her life.
Linda’s journey began in Vincennes, Indiana, where she grew up surrounded by the love of her family. Her zest for life and care for others was evident early on and only grew stronger as she aged. A proud 1979 graduate of Lincoln High School, Linda demonstrated a strong commitment to her community and family from a young age.
Her career was marked by dedicated service, with 14 years at Executive Inn in Vincennes, Indiana and 12 memorable years at the Washington, Indiana Taco Bell. Linda’s professional life was underpinned by a work ethic that was as strong as her spirit was kind.
A loving mother, Linda’s legacy lives on through her children, Robert Helpingstine (Amy Williams), Tammy Morris (Tyler Terrell), Amanda Stone (Dustin Cox), and Samantha Gray (Austin Grey). She celebrated life’s joys and embraced its challenges alongside her dear grandchildren Selena, Tabitha, Alexia, Matthew, Terry, Rylyn, Sebrina, Nathaniel, Katie, Isaac, Troy, Briann, Kambrie, Gabriella, Skylar, and Emma.
Linda’s love extended to the natural world, and she was passionate about her birds, finding joy and solace in the company of feathered friends. She was the embodiment of love, selflessness, and kindness, touching the lives of everyone she met.
Her siblings, Jack Hartley, Robin Goins, Kathy Banks, and David Hartley, will remember Linda with fondness, as they continue to walk the path that she left imprinted with her gentle footsteps. Linda was preceded in death by her sister Karen Umfleet and her parents Robert Helpingstine and Mary Louise Hartley.
Linda’s radiant spirit and loving presence will be deeply missed, but the beauty of her life will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
