Vincennes, IN — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is launching an enforcement effort this April to combat distracted driving, with law enforcement agencies nationwide participating.

Officers from the Vincennes Police Department and deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office will conduct additional patrols focusing on enforcing texting and distracted-driving laws.

Violating Indiana’s hands-free law can result in a Class C infraction with fines up to $500 and points added to the driver’s license.
