The Daviess Community Hospital (DCH) Foundation’s Eclipse 5K and Fun Run, held on Saturday at the hospital campus in Washington, was a success. The event aimed to raise funds for the hospital’s emergency room expansion project. The winners of the 5K race were:

Female 10-25 years old: Arina Yakymenko of Washington with a time of 31:38

Female 25+ years old: Melissa Pancake of Washington, 28:51

Male 10-25 years old: Blake Barber of Washington, 26:36

Male 25+ years old: Walter Henrichsen of Loogootee, 21:02

The funds raised will support the hospital’s emergency department expansion project, which includes: laboratory and imaging renovations, two dedicated rooms for treatment and containment of infectious diseases, three trauma rooms for severely ill and injured patients, the creation of a specialized safe room for patients experiencing a behavioral health crisis, a new ambulance entrance for enhanced privacy and flow, and an expanded visitor lobby. The new emergency department will be 40% larger and state-of-the-art. To continue fundraising efforts, the 9th annual Kentucky Derby Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 5–11 p.m. at the Ed Lee Chapel in Washington.
