Princeton police and Gibson County deputies were sent to a home early yesterday morning for a welfare check when things took a turn. A man was reported to be carrying a firearm. When officers arrived, they were sent to the back of the house by the garage, where they yelled for the man to drop the firearm. The man retreated inside the garage and then began to open fire. He fired multiple shots from inside the garage, and the officers retreated and called in the emergency response team. Officers were eventually able to get inside, where the man was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No officers were injured in the incident. The identity of the suspect has not been released.
