New Albany Police Officer Arrested on Stalking and Harassment Charges

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WTHI) – An Indiana police officer, Chad Armenta, faces multiple charges following accusations of stalking and harassment. Indiana State Police (ISP) arrested Armenta after an investigation that began in late April, prompted by a request from the New Albany Police Department chief due to allegations of harassment and misconduct. A New Albany resident reported that Armenta visited their home uninvited while off duty and refused to leave when asked. Additionally, ISP claims Armenta used his official position to interfere with the investigation.

Armenta has been charged with:

Official Misconduct (2 counts) – Level 6 Felony

Stalking – Level 6 Felony

Criminal Trespass – Class A Misdemeanor

Interference in Reporting a Crime – Class A Misdemeanor

Harassment – Class B Misdemeanor
