A vehicle struck a runaway horse on North 900 East Thursday evening, leaving the animal in the roadway and prompting a response from local authorities.
The driver who hit the horse reported the incident, and bystanders helped block the road while searching for the horse’s owner.
Responding officers confirmed that the horse and buggy had a Daviess County permit.
The horse was removed from the roadway, and the buggy was moved to the side for retrieval in the morning.
