Joe Abney, 70, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away, with his loving wife by his side, at his home, on Sunday, April 27, 2025. He was born on March 20, 1955 in Westpoint, New York to Joe Billy and Marguetha (Knauer) Abney. Joe married Theresa (Wikle) Abney on July 4, 2001.
Joe was a veteran of the US Army and the US Navy. He worked at SAIC as an Electronics Technician, then a contractor at RAYDAR, was a diesel mechanic and then worked at Crane for 9 years on the railroad. Joe was a member of the Odon VFW Post #9627.
Family left to cherish the memory of Joe include: his wife, Theresa Abney; son, Daniel K (Amy) Abney of Georgia; grandson, Corbin Abney; four sisters, Peggy (Greg) Franz, Jennene Pettree, Margot Kurschuer and Vickie Sevilla. Joe is also survived by his two fur babies, Max and Hollie, that he loved very much.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steven Abney.
A memorial service with military graveside rites will be held at a later date.
