Willetta “Billie” (Leach) Dyer

Willetta “Billie” (Leach) Dyer was born to Ira and Grace Leach on August 6, 1925, in Odon, Indiana. She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025 in Sunnyvale, California, at the age of 99.

A warm and outgoing soul, Billie loved her family and made friends easily. Shortly after graduation from Odon High School, she became a telephone switchboard operator in her small hometown. She later supported the war effort while employed at Packard Motors in Detroit. After the war, she graduated from beauty college and became a professional beautician in Indianapolis and in the communities of Odon and Washington, Indiana. She married Gerald “Gerry” Dyer in 1948. The couple made their home in several towns around Indiana and in the states of Ohio, Arizona, and Colorado. They eventually settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she continued to build new and lasting friendships. She remained devoted to her family and her friends and was an active member of the Church of Christ congregations in Sunnyvale and Santa Clara. Billie loved to teach children’s Bible classes, take long walks, go on shopping trips, and spend time with Gerry enjoying Monterey and Carmel. She was known by all for her caring and generous nature.

Billie is survived by her son, David Dyer, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerry and her sisters, Genevieve “Jennie” (Leach) Helm and Marcella “Marky” Leach, and brother Raymond Miller.

Graveside services are to be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 24th at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, Indiana.
