Lily Mae Wittmer, 92, of Montgomery, Indiana passed away on Wednesday May 21, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 28, 1932, in Mylo, North Dakota to David J. and Edith (Slaubaugh) Graber.
Lily Mae moved with her family from North Dakota to Indiana when she was 15 years old. She completed the 8th grade and later obtained her GED. She married Amos in 1952 and was a homemaker, also helping her husband with auctions. She was always interested in education. After obtaining her GED, she took schooling to get her real estate license, as well as, her nursing home administration license. She loved volunteering and was a grey lady at Daviess Community Hospital for over 20 years. She enjoyed singing weekly at local nursing homes with her sisters and friends. She sang with a quartet for many years and enjoyed playing the autoharp. Lily Mae lived a very full life.
Lily Mae is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Amos M. Wittmer, her sons, Nelson Wittmer, and Brent Wittmer, her brothers, John Graber, and Lowell Graber.
She is survived by her son, Merlin (Beth) Wittmer, her daughters, Coleen (Ed) Swartzentruber, Janell (Bob) Graber, Carmen (Mark) Yoder, 16 Grandchildren, 24 great -grandchildren, siblings, Betty Jean “Jeanie” (Danny – deceased) Raber, Martha Ann (Henry) Wittmer, Margie Ann (Richard – deceased, Ezra – deceased) Beachy, Gary D. (Ada) Graber, Frances J. (Darrell) Stoll, Galen (Marilyn) Graber, her sisters-in-law, Maribeth Graber, Lucy Graber, Dora Mae Wittmer, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday May 30, 2025, at 10:00 A.M at Providence Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Providence Mennonite Church. Funeral services will held at 10:00 A.M at Church.
For the last year of her life, Mom was faithfully cared for by 4 caregivers: Betty Hall, Marge Graber, Diane Lengacher, and Martha Knepp. The family appreciates their love and care for Mom.
