Daviess County Commissioners Vice-President Michael Kieth presided at Tuesday morning’s meeting and finished off the agenda in about 15 minutes.
The commissioners received an update on the courthouse renovation and were told that the project is on budget and on schedule, with plans for the circuit court to move in on June 30. The other courts and offices will then move back to the courthouse in phases.
In regular business, the commissioners approved a request from the Health Department to apply for a $25,000 grant to provide necessary dental care to uninsured individuals. Andrea Brown told the commissioners that she sees around 50 individuals, including several children in need of dental care. Brown said the grant is offered by the Being for Others Health and Wellness Foundation with funding from Deaconess and Memorial Hospitals.
County Health Nurse Cathy Sullender reported that the Health Department needs to raise the cost of vaccines provided by the department due to a hike in costs.
In other business, the commissioners received support requests from several not-for-profit organizations from throughout the county. The commissioners took the requests under advisement.
The commissioners also announced public hearings would be held on proposed amendments to the county’s solar field ordinance at 5 pm on Tuesday. The next regularly scheduled Commissioners meeting will be at 8:15 a.m. on June 10.
