Daniel Joseph Ritterskamp, 77, of Washington passed away as a result of an accident on Friday, May 23 at his home. He was born on October 12, 1947 in Washington to the late Joseph and Jean (Poindexter) Ritterskamp.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie (Grider), son Ryan, daughter-in-law Judy (Hicks) grandchildren Andrew, Jack, Caris and Evie and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Danny’s lifetime home was in Washington, IN. His early years were spent surrounded by many cousins and close family. After graduating from Washington High School in 1965 he went on to graduate from Purdue University with an engineering degree. He served in the National Guard from 1969-1976. Connie was his childhood sweetheart and high school girlfriend and they were married on June 12, 1971. He went on to have a 33-year career with the Indiana Department of Transportation where he obtained his professional engineer license and worked as a traffic engineer. During these years he loved camping, boating, water-skiing and time with his family and friends. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Washington, Indiana.

The only thing that could get him to leave Washington for any extended period was his grandkids! He and Connie spent their retirement traveling back and forth from Washington to Richmond, Virginia supporting their four grandchildren in all their activities. Many memories were made with extended family at the beach every summer. Dan could make any plant grow and could fix any household problem. His quiet, steady ways put everyone at ease as he listened with big ears and an open heart. He was the embodiment of a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Visitation for Daniel will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4:00-7:00pm ET at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501.
