Jessica from the Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth joined regional partners and the IU Center for Rural Engagement this week to present at the Americans for the Arts Conference in Cincinnati. The presentation highlighted the Rural Placemaking Studio, a program that supports community revitalization through creative design and engagement. All three Martin County communities have participated in the program. In the first cohort, Crane installed a new welcome sign, while Shoals added coordinated downtown business signage and received a park expansion rendering, key tools now aiding their fundraising, including a current Crowdfunding Grant. The new signage is expected to be installed this fall. Now, Loogootee’s CALL and Main Street group are participating in the second cohort, with more community enhancements on the horizon.
