Kroger has announced plans to close 60 stores nationwide over the next 18 months as part of a move to increase efficiency, despite reporting higher-than-expected profits. Among the closures is the Jay-C Food Store in downtown Shoals, where employees were informed this week that the store’s final day of operation will be July 31.
