A March 14th search warrant in Winslow led to the seizure of nearly $20,000 in suspected drug-related cash. Pike Circuit Court later ruled that $10,000 of the total was linked to drug sales. A civil forfeiture lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor’s Office resulted in a court-approved agreement on June 16 to forfeit the $10,000. Of that, $5,666 will go to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department’s canine fund, $3,333 to the Prosecutor’s forfeiture fund, and the remaining $1,000 to the state’s common school fund. The defendant, a minor at the time, was not named. Authorities hope the outcome leads to positive change while ensuring the funds benefit local law enforcement and the community.
