The Daviess County Council heard a report on West Boggs Park, approved appointments to the Daviess Community Hospital Board, reviewed 2025 CF-1 tax abatement report forms, and reviewed requests for additional appropriations at Wednesday morning’s regular meeting.

Park Superintendent Nathan Rihm gave the council an update on the West Boggs Park and Golf Course. Rihm’s request for an additional appropriation to re-seed damaged areas of the golf course was received too late to meet state advertising requirements and will be heard at the next meeting. The council approved an updated wage report. Wages for Parks Department seasonal employees range from a low of $9 per hour to $25 per hour. The council also approved an appropriation of $15,000 in park funds for building repair.

In other business, the council approved Tyson Wagler and Tony Duncheon as its appointments to the Daviess Community Hospital Board.

The Council then approved requests for additional appropriations from the Superior Court for petit jury expenses, the Daviess County Airport for matching grant funds, the Sheriff’s Department to use an additional $5,491 to meet higher costs for four vehicles from the sex and violent offender fees, a grant received for office machines for the Coroner’s office, and $54,000 in funds received from the Restricted Opioid Settlement for the IRACS program. The council tabled a request from the coroner’s office for an additional $30,000 for autopsies.
