A Greene County man accused in a high-profile double homicide case intends to plead guilty, according to his attorney. Joshua Penick, 36, faces two counts of murder in the deaths of Samantha Jerrell, 36, and her 14-year-old son, Colton. Prosecutors allege Penick killed the victims and buried their bodies at Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County, where they were discovered in October 2024. It remains unclear which charges Penick plans to plead guilty to. A change of plea hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, with sentencing set for October 1. Penick remains presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
