Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations is eliminating its statewide team of reporters and editors following the loss of $3.6 million in state funding. The cut was made in April by the Indiana General Assembly. IPBS Executive Director Mark Newman called it a “difficult decision,” noting that individual stations will now face tough financial choices to continue serving their local audiences. Formed in 1979, IPBS includes 17 public TV and radio stations across Indiana, which collectively reach 95% of Hoosiers with news, educational content, and public safety programming. The restructuring of the IPB News statewide collaboration is underway, with more details to be announced.
