Richard “Dick” Alcorn, 75, of Shoals, Indiana passed away July 9, 2025. He was born in Washington, Indiana to Velta and Betty Alcorn on January 2, 1950. Dick graduated from Washington High School in 1967 and continued his education at Indiana University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in 1971. He married the love of his life, Judy Wiseman, on June 19, 1971. Dick worked for crane as a material engineer for 40 years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching PGA Golf, Indianapolis Colts, Notre Dame, Cincinnati Reds, and IU Basketball. In his free time, Dick enjoyed spending time outdoors tending his flowers, mushroom hunting, golfing, fishing, playing bocce ball but his favorite thing was to spend time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
Dick was preceded in death by his father Velta Alcorn and brother Ron Alcorn.
He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Judy Alcorn; sons Brock (Michelle) Alcorn and Aaron (Kim) Alcorn; mother Betty Alcorn; sister Sandy (Tim) St. Onge; grandchildren Nici (Joseph) Carroll, Hannah (Logan) Albright, Elysah (Andrew) Dunbar, Olivia (Layton Hall) Alcorn, Chloe (Christian Taulbee) Alcorn; sister-in-law Jane Alcorn; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Alcorn. Visitation will be July 14, 2025, at 2020 State Street from 11 am to 1 pm. A Funeral Service will begin promptly at 1 pm with burial at Iva Public Cemetery immediately following.
