Loretta G. (Wininger) Turpin

Loretta G. (Wininger) Turpin, 94, of Lost River, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her residence.

 

Born July 14, 1930, in Lost River, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Tillie (Wolf) Wininger.

 

Loretta attended Shoals High School and was a lifelong member of the Shoals Christian Church being baptized in 1946.

 

She married Dewey Turpin on October 5, 1947, and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1995.

 

Loretta was a homemaker, taking care of their six children.

 

She enjoyed gardening, working around the yard, playing the harmonica, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, and volunteering at the Shoals Christian Church.

 

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Regina (Michael) Wozny, Darrell (Linda) Turpin, Brenda Weiler, Marsha (Ted) Chronis, Drexel (Vicki) Turpin, and Dana (Diana) Turpin; twelve grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewey; great-granddaughter, Kara E. Jarnagin; great great-grandson, Opie Homan; three sisters, Alberta Cotton, Kathleen Kidwell, and Lavonna Pruett; and son-in-law, Bill Weiler.

 

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care with Pastor Matt Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour on Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shoals Christian Church.
