Charles “Chuck” Arthur Courtney of Vincennes, IN, went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1940. Chuck was raised on a family farm near Odon, IN, with his parents and siblings. Chuck married Dixie Keniepp in 1964, and they remained happily married for 60 years preceding his death. Chuck and Dixie raised one daughter, Mischelle, their pride and joy.
Chuck was an avid basketball player with offers to play at Butler University. To care for his family, Chuck remained local and played basketball with Vincennes University. His love for sports never died, he has always loved athletics, especially basketball. Upon graduating college, Chuck became a school teacher. He taught school for Wheatland which then became South Knox School Corporation for 25 years. One of his favorite stories to tell was about how he would tell his PE students, if he missed a half court shot, they would not have to run sprints in class that day, he rarely missed. Chuck also coached basketball and baseball during his time there. Throughout the years, Chuck and Dixie were blessed with 3 beautiful grandchildren, Gabrielle, Austin, and Kinleigh. “Papaw Chuck” spent many years making sure the freezer was always stocked with ice cream, the Christmas presents were handed out one by one, and our bonds were ready for our birthdays each year. He never failed to make sure we all knew how loved we were. Just recently, Chuck became a great grandpa, and his new great grandson, Myles, has been the apple of his eye these past few months. Chuck is a huge Pacers fan, Cubs fan, and Indiana Hoosiers fan. Papaw, Myles, and Seth (Myles dad) could always be found watching Pacers games together. Chuck was loved by many and he has left us with many special memories.
