Daviess Community Hospital is receiving a major investment as part of the latest round of READI 2.0 funding aimed at growing regional infrastructure and quality of life in Southern Indiana. The hospital’s Emergency Department and radiology services will see substantial upgrades thanks to a $500,000 READI allocation, part of a larger $5 million public-private investment involving the hospital, Daviess County, and the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation. According to hospital CFO April Settles, the expansion will increase emergency room space by 40%, adding trauma and exam rooms, a new EMS entrance, and specialized consultation areas. The project also modernizes radiology with upgraded patient flow, privacy features, and a state-of-the-art 1.5T MRI machine to provide quicker, more comfortable diagnostics. Daviess County’s project is one of four in the Indiana Uplands region receiving a combined $4.09 million in new READI 2.0 funds. The other initiatives include:

Huntingburg (Dubois County): A $16 million housing development known as Poplar Ridge Apartments, offering 126 new market-rate units. The project received $1.49 million in READI funds and is designed to attract and retain workforce talent.

Leavenworth (Crawford County): A public-private partnership to build 57 new single-family homes. Backed by $1.85 million in READI funding, the development aims to address housing needs for workers near the industrial park and I-64.

Nashville (Brown County): Brown County Schools will renovate its Early Education Center with new classroom and health spaces, supported in part by a $250,000 READI investment.
