Local organizations are stepping up to support Pike County’s new Affordable Housing Program, which aims to eliminate blighted properties and create safe, affordable in-fill housing. Arevon recently pledged $25,000 to the program, following a $25,000 grant from the Being for Others Foundation earlier this month. With additional contributions, total funding has reached $62,000. The initiative, launched by the Pike County Economic Development Corporation, focuses on cleaning up problem properties and working with developers to build or renovate homes, not government-subsidized housing. A committee from Pike County Progress Partners is already identifying sites in Winslow, Otwell, Spurgeon, and across the county to expand housing opportunities.
