Daviess County schools will receive more than $153,000 in funding through Indiana’s Secured School Safety Grant Program. State Reps. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) announced the grants, which are part of $27 million awarded statewide to nearly 500 schools. Local recipients include Barr-Reeve Community Schools ($13,875), North Daviess Community Schools ($19,425), Washington Catholic Elementary ($27,427), and Washington Community Schools ($92,500). The funding can be used for school resource officers, safety equipment, technology, threat assessments, and student-parent support programs. Since its launch in 2013, the program has provided more than $214 million to improve school safety across Indiana.
