The Dubois County engineer advised commissioners not to close a section of County Road 250 North in Ireland after reviewing traffic data and public feedback.

INDOT had proposed the closure between Grant Street and State Road 56 as part of a sidewalk project, citing safety concerns with the intersection’s unusual design.

However, the engineer said crash data showed no significant safety issues, and community input revealed the road is heavily used for school traffic and access to local businesses.

The engineer noted the intersection is primarily used by locals familiar with navigating it safely.

Commissioners agreed with his recommendation, leaving the road open.
