EVANSVILLE POLICE OFFICER SHOT EARLY SUNDAY MORNING

An Evansville, Indiana police officer is in stable condition after being shot during an early Sunday morning shootout.  According to Evansville news sources, the Evansville Police Department reports that officers located a stolen vehicle at Rally’s on Virginia Avenue in Evansville.  The Police report says that as officers approached, two suspects in the vehicle fled.  One of the suspects then pulled out a gun and shot at the officers.  One officer was hit.  Officers returned fire and the suspect was hit.    Both the wounded officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment.  The police report the officer is in stable condition.  There was  no report on the condition of the suspect.      A second suspect, a juvenile, was also taken into custody.
