North Daviess Schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after reports of gunfire near the campus. Deputies responded around 1:18 p.m. to a home on State Road 58, where a neighbor allegedly fired shots following an earlier animal complaint involving dogs on school property. Law enforcement from multiple agencies, including Indiana State Police, responded to the scene. Officials confirmed the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution while deputies investigated. By about 2 p.m., officers determined the situation was under control and the lockdown was lifted. No injuries were reported, and authorities say the incident remains under review.
