The Historic Shoals River District is kicking off a brand-new fall tradition this weekend with its first Harvest Fest, taking place Saturday evening at the Star Mill Gathering Place along the White River. Organizer Grant Sherfick says the event will feature more than 20 local vendors and artisans, several food trucks, and activities for all ages, including games for kids, a hayride, and a beer and wine garden for adults. Local organizations such as the 4-H Junior Leaders and Shoals Drama Club will also take part, raising funds by selling food items. Live music begins at 6 p.m. on the Star Mill porch. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of food, music, and fall fun. A silent dessert auction will also be held to benefit the Historic Shoals River District, the Main Street organization behind the event. The Harvest Fest begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, and organizers say the fall weather should make for a perfect evening by the river. More details can be found on the Historic Shoals River District Facebook page.
