A man and woman are dead following a suspected murder-suicide in Santa Claus on Tuesday afternoon. According to the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, a 911 call was received around 12:17 p.m. from Jamie Adkins, 48, who told dispatchers she had shot her husband. When officers from the Santa Claus Police Department, Indiana State Police, and the Sheriff’s Office arrived, they were unable to make contact and later entered the home. Inside, officers found John Adkins, 49, deceased from gunshot wounds, and Jamie Adkins suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was transported to Owensboro Hospital, where she later died. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and autopsies are being conducted in Vanderburgh County and Chrisney, Spencer County. Family members have been notified.
