
A Jasper man faces multiple felony charges after police responded to a domestic disturbance Friday morning at a residence on East Fifteenth Street. According to the Jasper Police Department, officers were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. after a 911 call in which a female could be heard screaming. Upon arrival, officers investigated and took 33-year-old Rene Leyva Calderin into custody. While in custody, police say Calderin became combative, spat on three officers, striking one in the eye, and engaged in additional disorderly behavior. He was charged with Domestic Battery (Level 6 Felony), three counts of Battery on Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony), and Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A Misdemeanor). Calderin was booked into the Dubois County Security Center. The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Deaconess Memorial EMS assisted at the scene.
