Martin County Commissioners Approve DOT Service Agreement, Library Grant Claim

The Martin County Commissioners met Tuesday at the Shoals Courthouse, approving a new Department of Transportation service agreement and the seventh grant claim for the Shoals Public Library totaling $17,500. During the meeting, commissioners discussed road flooding concerns on East 700 North, with the Highway Department set to assess possible improvements. Attorney David Lett reported progress on plans to renovate the former recycling center into office space and to make courthouse restrooms ADA compliant. The board also heard updates on property maintenance issues in Burns City and ongoing contract negotiations with Patriot. EMA Director Andy Ringwald confirmed receipt of new department equipment, and Kristi Risk, a State Senate candidate, addressed the board. The next commissioners meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, at 5:30 p.m.
