A Vincennes man was arrested Wednesday after police recovered a stolen vehicle from Louisville during a traffic stop in Huntingburg. According to Jasper Police Chief Chad Dick, officers received a report of a suspicious person at a local auto dealership in Jasper around 11:30 a.m. Officers located the suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Connor J. Smith, driving a 2024 Toyota Tundra with a false license plate on U.S. 231. When the vehicle entered Huntingburg, a marked Huntingburg Police unit assisted in stopping it at the Northside Dollar General. An investigation determined the truck had been stolen from the Louisville area in June. Smith was taken into custody and booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a Level 6 felony charge of motor vehicle theft. The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office and Huntingburg Police Department assisted in the arrest.
