The Vincennes University Jasper Foundation has received nearly $46,000 from the 2025 Jasper Strassenfest Committee to fund its Scholastic Excellence Award, a full-tuition scholarship for local high school graduates. The award covers one year of tuition, a $500 book stipend per semester, and a new laptop for students from Dubois, Crawford, Orange, Perry, Harrison, Martin, and Spencer counties attending VU Jasper. Foundation President Dan Fritch said the funds, raised through the annual Strassenfest Half Pot event, will allow 8 to 10 local students to begin college debt-free. The Strassenfest Committee will use the remaining proceeds to support local nonprofits and future community initiatives. The Half Pot’s winning ticket, held by a Jasper couple, earned a prize of over $77,000.
