Our Community Foundation has awarded its Fall Semester Teaching Innovator Grant to Washington Catholic Schools for the “Every Step Counts” project, a new initiative to promote student fitness and goal setting through the use of pedometers. Teacher John Howell, who accepted the $250 grant and was named a Teaching Innovator, said the project encourages students to take ownership of their health by tracking their movement and setting personal fitness goals.
