The Indiana State Police Jasper District has welcomed two new probationary troopers, Aaron Guzman and Dakota Hatton, following their graduation from the 88th Indiana State Police Lateral Academy on November 6. The new troopers were among 14 graduates who completed more than 1,200 hours of training in criminal law, emergency driving, crash investigation, self-defense, and other law enforcement techniques. They now begin a three-month field training period alongside veteran officers before starting solo patrols. Both Guzman and Hatton are Washington High School graduates and former Washington Police Department patrolmen. Guzman, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, holds an associate degree in criminal justice. Hatton, a member of the Army National Guard, earned a bachelor’s degree from Johnson University and served in Guantanamo Bay.
