Barbara Jane Ash, 72, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday November 17, 2025, in Henderson, Kentucky surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 17, 1953, in Jasper, Indiana to Harry and Edith (Meehan) Ellis.
Barb married Denny “Moe” Ash on January 1st, 1972. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Barb was a bright and loving soul who brought joy wherever she went. She loved to shop, decorate, and craft, always finding new ways to make things beautiful. Whether she was working on a project, rearranging a room, or picking out something special on a shopping trip, she put her heart into it.
Barb cherished her family and her dogs, who meant the world to her. She loved spending time with them, sharing laughs, stories, and everyday moments. She also had a talent for hosting parties – especially themed ones- and she made every gathering feel fun, welcome, and memorable. Barb enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Over the years Barb worked at RCA in Bloomington, Kimball Electronics in Jasper, and the textile factory in Loogootee. She was known for being dependable, hardworking, and kind to everyone she met. Barb leaves behind a lasting reminder of how full a life can be when it’s shared with love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Edith Ellis, her husband, Denny Ash, and her sister-in-law, Linda Hays, and brother – in – law, Robert Jones.
Barb is survived by her daughter, Becky (Tom) Gates of Fishers, grandchildren, Addy and Landon Gates, siblings, Keith (Darlene) Ellis, Karen Jones, brother- in- laws, Tom (Anita) Ash, Pat (Sue) Ash, Tim (Becky) Ash, Bill (Nancy) Ash, Warren Hays, sister – in – law, Marijo (Charlie) Kane, family friend, Linda Schnarr, her beloved dogs, Holly and Sparky, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. Mary Barr Township Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday November 21, 2025, from 3:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Martin County Humane Society, Martin County Cancer Patient Services, or St. Mary Barr- Township Catholic Cemetery in memory of Barbara Ash.
