Two-Vehicle Crash Blocks East National Highway Wednesday Night

Washington Police and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash at East National Highway and Southeast 21st Street around 9:11 p.m. Wednesday. According to dispatch reports, an SUV and a sedan collided, triggering airbag deployment in both vehicles and causing heavy front-end damage. Fluids were leaking from one vehicle, and the roadway became heavily congested. Multiple callers reported the crash, but all occupants were able to exit their vehicles and appeared uninjured. Medics confirmed no injuries at the scene. Two wreckers were requested, with Briggeman’s towing one vehicle and Craney’s towing the other. East National Highway was temporarily blocked until about 9:52 p.m. while crews cleared the scene. Police say the initial investigation indicates one vehicle pulled in front of the other. A full crash report will be filed.
