The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement warning of strong westerly winds today as a winter storm system passes north of the region.
Gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected across far south-central and southeastern Indiana through early evening.
Forecasters say the winds may blow around unsecured items and outdoor holiday decorations.
Conditions are expected to improve as winds diminish later tonight.
