Daviess County will get state funding for three road projects in 2026. According to County Highway Superintendent Chris Winkler, all three of the county’s proposed projects for 2026 were accepted by the state and will receive funding from Community Crossing Grants. Winkler also told the Commissioners that the County Highway Department’s asset management program received approval, allowing Daviess County to receive federal funding for the county’s roads and bridges.
The Commissioners also heard a report from the Visitors Bureau’s Amber Warden. Warden told the commissioners that the Placer 1 program shows the ten locations visitors to the county are coming from and the local businesses and events they are going to. Warden also gave her final annual report to the Commissioners, as her family is relocating.
The Commissioners also received a report from Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Bob Grewe. Grewe told the Commissioners that Daviess County was one of two communities in the state to receive a grant for the creation of walking trails in the county.
In other business, the Commissioners approved an increase in EMS funding, approved a contract for SOFR services for the Health Department, approved a contract with Nexus for required industrial and commercial reassessments, and agreed to allow West Boggs Park to apply for four grants to fund renovations to the beach house and to create an accessible fitness trail at the park. Several items on the agenda were tabled until the Dec. 23 meeting.
