High-Speed Chase Across Knox and Daviess Counties Ends in Crash, Suspect Arrested

A high-speed pursuit that began in Knox County and continued into Daviess County Sunday night reached speeds of more than 90 mph before ending in a crash in Washington. The chase began around 8:30 p.m. when Knox County deputies attempted to stop a gray 2016 Kia Rio on U.S. 50 and reported a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The driver fled eastbound through Wheatland, at times traveling in the wrong lane. Officers from Knox County, Daviess County, and Washington Police coordinated the pursuit, deploying stop sticks as the vehicle entered Daviess County. The chase continued onto County Road 150 West before the suspect crashed into a pole at Southwest 10th and Crosby in Washington. Police tased the driver and took him into custody. No injuries to officers or bystanders were reported. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity.
