Northeast Dubois Jr./Sr. High School will soon have brand-new tennis courts, thanks to a $200,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The funding will cover reconstruction of all six existing courts and installation of new fencing, with construction set to begin in May and finish by July 2026. School officials say the current courts have reached the end of their lifespan, making the upgrade essential. Because of the construction timeline and weather, the new courts will not be ready for the girls’ tennis season this spring. Principal Andy Chinn added that the new facility will provide a first-class playing environment for both students and the public. The USTA’s Tennis Venue Services program supports improvements to tennis facilities nationwide and has distributed more than $34 million in grants since 2005.
