Petersburg Elementary School is giving students an early start in emerging technology by incorporating artificial intelligence into 5th grade writing lessons this year. The initiative allows students to practice writing with AI tools while teachers monitor how they interact with the technology. Principal Melissa Pancake said the approach helps teachers better support students’ learning and encourages creativity. The school says the goal is to teach responsible and effective use of AI as the technology becomes more common in education and future careers.
