Fire crews responded Thursday evening to a house fire in the 2300 block of Oak Grove Road after a wood stove malfunction sparked flames at a residence. The fire was reported just before 7:45 p.m., with initial callers reporting the house was on fire. Firefighters found moderate smoke coming from the east side of the home and determined the blaze was caused by overheated wood stove piping that ignited the exterior of the residence. Washington Community Fire Department crews quickly took control of the scene, and utility crews shut off power to the home as a precaution. No injuries were reported, and medical personnel were released from the scene once the fire was contained. The fire was fully extinguished, and all units were back in service by around 9 p.m.
