Ryan Craig will be Jasper’s next mayor after winning a Republican caucus Friday night. The 39-year-old, who currently serves as vice president of the Dubois County Council, received a majority of votes from 13 Republican precinct committee members representing Jasper. He defeated Jasper City Council President Phil Mundy in the vote; exact totals were not released. Craig took the oath of office Friday night but will officially begin his duties April 1. He will serve through the remainder of former Mayor Dean Vonderheide’s term, which ends in 2027. Craig said he is eager to begin the role and focus on city priorities, including concerns related to the proposed Mid-State Corridor.
