A major new munitions campus broke ground Thursday, February 19th, in Greene County. The National Security Industrial Hub will be built near Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division and Crane Army Ammunition Activity. Prometheus Energetics, a partnership between Kratos Defense & Security Solutions and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, will serve as the anchor tenant, investing $175 million to manufacture solid rocket motors in Indiana. The 1,100-acre development in Bloomfield is expected to create hundreds of high-wage jobs, with Prometheus projecting 375 positions by 2032. Initial production is anticipated to begin in 2027. State and federal officials, including Gov. Mike Braun, US Sen. Todd Young, US Sen. Jim Banks, US Rep. Mark Messmer, and members of Indiana’s congressional delegation attended the groundbreaking. Prometheus’ planned site will work alongside Kratos’ $50 million facility currently being built in nearby Odon. Together, the developments are expected to bolster Indiana’s defense industry and generate nearly 500 high-paying jobs in rural communities.
