An 82-year-old Bicknell man was sentenced Tuesday in Knox Circuit Court after previously pleading guilty to a felony sex offense involving a minor. Michael Jones received a 12-year sentence in the Indiana Department of Correction after pleading guilty to a Level 4 felony related to the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl. The case was filed in 2021, though officials said the abuse began years earlier. Knox County Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan asked the court to impose the maximum sentence, citing the lasting trauma caused to the victim and her family. Carnahan also told the court that Jones had violated bond conditions by stalking the victim. Judge Monica Gilmore agreed with the recommendation and ordered the maximum 12-year sentence. Carnahan also commended the victim for her courage throughout the case and thanked law enforcement and his staff for their work on the investigation.
