A new training facility aimed at preparing first responders is opening in Bloomfield this week. Vigiles Safety Academy will hold a grand opening Friday at noon at its new location on South Washington Street in Bloomfield. The academy provides training for EMTs and firefighters, including certification programs and continuing education. Officials say the new standalone facility features a simulation lab designed to give students hands-on, real-world training in emergency scenarios. The academy has already trained many first responders across Daviess, Greene, and Sullivan counties. Organizers say the goal is to make training more accessible and help address the growing need for EMTs and firefighters in the region.
