A new recreational activity is gaining interest in Loogootee as two local residents work to introduce ball hockey to the community. Nathan Chesser and Dan Pasowicz, both with backgrounds in hockey, are organizing informal meetups to bring the sport to the area. Ball hockey is a simplified version of ice hockey played with a ball instead of a puck and without skates, making it more accessible for all ages and skill levels. The group currently meets at the enclosed basketball courts near Loogootee High School, typically on weekends, with times shared through the “Loogootee Ball Hockey” Facebook page. Organizers say the goal is to provide a fun, welcoming environment for exercise, learning the game, and building community connections. They encourage anyone interested to attend, whether to play, learn, or simply watch. Listen to the full interview this Sunday morning on Getting in the Know with Greg Bateman on the Razor 94.5.
